How can graphic design help to enable more interim use in Graz?

To generate a deeper knowledge for the topic, first a lot of research was done which resulted in a paper. With the knowledge gained, protest posters and a teaser video were created.

In the urban space of Graz there are many unused areas that could be used for temporary activities, such as pop-up stores, art installations or social projects. While the city of Graz has already done some work to combat vacancy, this commitment has increasingly leveled off over the past five years.
For this reason, it is now time to get creative. With the help of design, the aim is to get civil society to pay more attention to this problem again. On the other hand, art and culture professionals should also be given more opportunities to make creative use of interim use. First, we will discuss the role that graphic design has historically played in this process and what functions are important today. Based on this, concrete starting points for a successful mobilization campaign will be developed.

keep doing was our visual identity concept for the annual design faculty's graduation exhibition. We were excited that the annual exhibition could finally take place in person after the pandemic.
Our goal was to create a welcoming and friendly design that is warm and fun to engage with. Our central design element is the circle. It embraces the design process in which you sometimes take three steps forward just to two two steps back.
Whatever it is, we should never forget to keep doing! Even if undecided or uncertain, just keep doing! Even if you struggle and it is sometimes difficult, to not give up. Keep doing!

Who are we? We are loud and quiet. Bold and delicate. Just like our typeface mix.

We want to share our idea of Keep Doing with you and how it looks in motion, as a pattern, individually placed, in a row with others or resting. Our flags mark the entrance of the building to attract and guide visitors. Of course, one goal is to draw attention to the exhibition which we achieve with 18/1 concepts placed throughout the city.

Gives approaches to reflect and become more stubborn. Together with you, we would like to dare a journey inward. Through questions, information and thought games, this project expands your own horizons.

What?

With this project, we want to bring people closer to "Eigensinn" and Hermann Hesse. To do this, we initially chose the medium of social media, and Instagram in particular. As a counter approach, that social media can not only be self-representation and "fake", but can also help people to find themselves.

How?

On @eigensinn_hesse we show how we can all become more stubborn. With the 90s nostalgic appearance of the account, we show that stubbornness is Bold and fun. Finding yourself and becoming more stubborn is fun. With the basic forms, we follow the principle that we must first come to ourselves, so what our idea "stick to the basics". Our form of expression in the first step was stories, reels, carousel posts.

Why?

Carousel posts to ask questions in the room. They are meant to be suggestions to think about how we can strengthen our own sense. The Reels are meant to be complementary as a practical approach on how we can find more to ourselves. In total, we have reached over 12,000 people in 14 days of postings.

We are very proud that our wind chime installation is now on display at the Hermann Hesse Museum in Montagnola.

(Online) dating nowadays is superficial and sometimes even humiliating. Constantly judging people prevents creating serious encounters.

We want to create a socially open platform that allows to explore people according to their character, free of external judgments. To create encounters, through common or contrasting musical tastes, to explore common local activities.

Our platform focuses on people's character, with personal musical tastes playing a central role. In doing so, we create an alternative to existing offerings that are designed for fast swiping and expensive premium features.
We make no restriction to either love or friend relationships and place all genders on an equal footing. Due to our local orientation we offer a selected range of common activities for 'real' encounters.
